Tell HN: Don't use Fathom Analytics (founder is blocking criticism)
Original Text
I checked the "AI reply blocks", and saw some other exhibits as well:
- https://x.com/JackEllis/status/2107979041261138297 (this could be a valid criticism, but it got blocked for AI reply) - https://x.com/JackEllis/status/2111053035640144173 (legitimate and known person involved with Laravel community got also blocked for AI reply; context: Laravel website uses Fathom Analytics) - https://x.com/JackEllis/status/1959994004109775125 (possibly valid criticism against "Company of One" book with SPY 500 counterargument got also blocked for AI reply) - https://x.com/JackEllis/status/2105080650176881079 (a reply quoting a criticism of 37Signals got blocked for AI reply too)
If a founder is blocking legitimate criticism and significant legitimate people for "AI replies", would you trust the founder with Fathom Analytics? Wouldn't this lead to the product being built in interest of founder and not customer?
Use something else for analytics instead. I'm using Plausible (or rather its self-hosted Community Edition) myself, and it works without a problem. + a modern UI.
